Erykah Badu "Saviors Day"

Febuary 20th, 2008 at the Chapel of Sacred Mirror, hundreds turned out for the Erykah Badu album release listening party. The new album titled "New Amerykah" is part 1 of 4 albums scheduled to be released this year. The event was great, a bit crowded but definitely worth it. Erykah's new songs were captivating both lyrically and musically. In the mix of things she dedicated one of her songs to the late Jay Dilla, and even blessed the audience with a story about Dilla before his passing. When this album drops it will definitely be on heavy rotation in my iPod.

Here is the new release from NYC's ink master KRINK. Krink used to only offer the signature silver color, but now they come in assorted colors as displayed above and work like a charm. I had the pleasure of obtaining a few of these from my fellow friend Faro of the ADHD crew who has been an avid user of this product. I have not had the chance of using the markers just yet but the squeeze bottles are definitely a fine purchase for you graff heads out there. The squeeze bottle gives you the freedom of controlling how much ink is dispersed while leaving your mark. I personally prefer seeing it drip to the ground, but to each his own. So the city of New York has decided to spend an absurd amount of money trying to "erase the graffiti plague". Sometimes I wonder what the hell the city is thinking, we really don't need to erase any graffiti, it's part of our city and has been for ages it is what actually defines New York City. Would the city erase the scrawls left behind by our ancestors, probably not but they seem to want to do that now. Our world should not be a sterile, clean and pristine environment, this type of look lacks the feeling of culture and life! I love seeing the scrawls left around the city it makes me feel like there are people with ambition to do more with their lives than sit in an office and work till they die. LONG LIVE GRAFFITI!!!!!!

The New Apple store located on W 14th St and 9th Ave is one big apple. The place is beautiful, once housing the popular eatery Spice Market is now renovated and given the apple design touch. The Infamous apple glass staircase has been sent through a vortex of gusty winter winds and spiraled 3 stories to accommodate the 3 massive floors of apple products for the general public to drool over. All I can say is that I will be there this weekend using the free internet on computers I couldn't afford.

Banksy hits the big apple in a big way.

The show opened at 1 pm, by 1:45 there was a 20 minute line already waiting to get into the doors.

This is refreshing, I just wish that everytime I lied to the police they didn't beat me.

This past Sunday was the opening of a Banksy show at the Vanina Holasek Gallery (502 W 27th St) in Chelsea.There was quite the turnout for the man known as Banksy. His art can be found all over the world, from elaborately detailed street stencils to his personal paintings hand placed in world renown museums. Banksy has become an art-world celebrity by his high-profile pranks despite the fact that few people even know who he is.

He once smuggled his pieces into Tate Britain, Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), The Brooklyn Museum and the American Museum of Natural History. Damien Hurst Diamond Skull!!!!!

Now this is some shit you do when your bored ,have money and call yourself a modern artist. For some time I thought that Lil' Wayne had some ice but this makes him look like he went to the liquor store for his. Artist Damien Hirst has unveiled this diamond encrusted skull that he gave the name "For the Love of God". With a £50 million price tag he really made Sierra Leon work hard for this one, the skull is covered with 8,601 diamonds and a 52-carat pear-shaped stone is set into the forehead, surrounded by 14 diamonds.

Hirst says For The Love Of God is 'a celebration against death'. The work took 18 months to make and the diamonds, worth £12 million, were paid for by Hirst and the gallery. When you see something like this you want to say thats cool but at the very same time you think damn this world is demented.

New designs for Substance Skateboards by graffiti artist Then from the Aids Crew. This is a fairly new skate company with lot of street credit over here in NYC. I have seen some of their products and they look pretty good. Their skate team is on point, led by pro skater Rob Campbell it seems like their presence in the skate industry will prove superior to may other companies as it is Skater owned and ridden. Walk any street in NYC and you'll see their signature double S with a crown logo on stickers plastered to street signs, lamp posts and anything else within the eyes range.
